PRISMI Geographical Information System (GIS) geo-database

PRISMI GIS geodatabase contains data about RES potential, information about environmental constraints, the existent energy systems and buildings and is distributed free of charge.

Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping is a powerful tool in the planning process. GIS enables to obtain a more complete picture while designing the energy system. This allows taking into consideration spatial constraints and potentials, availability and effectiveness of conventional and renewable resources, capacity and load patterns of renewable energy infrastructures.

PRISMI GIS geodatabase contains data about RES potential (solar, wind, wave and tidal), information about environmental constraints, the existent energy systems (thermoelectric plants, PV plants, wind turbine generators, etc.) and buildings. The PRISMI geodatabase will benefit all Mediterranean island communities, allowing them to view the concise scenarios of energy system development in more visual way. This helps both the awareness raising and in precise sitting of the planned new installations.

PRISMI GIS geo-database runs on ArcGIS platform, it has been developed by the Sapienza University of Rome and is distributed free of charge after filling the PRISMI Network Registration Form and sending it to the Project Coordinator: davide.astiasogarcia@uniroma1.it

Furthermore, synthetic thematic maps will be available soon on PRISMI Website.
